Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
Reviews
Really lovely and vast tropical garden with hundreds of exotic plants and trees from all around the world. Golden pheasants are roaming around and they have a silver pheasant on site. There is a nice café with snacks and drinks. Plenty of restrooms inside the cafe towards the back. There are many really nice and long walking trails throughout the whole garden. There’s a creek running through it, and a rope bridge (currently under Repair), which is fun. Recommend.
A beautiful garden with the bonus that you can use Tesco vouchers to enter. There is a lovely walk up to a great view point over Chesil beach. You could easily spend several hours here to get round all the paths and see everything but there is a marked route to see all the main bits. We stopped at the end for a drink and a slice of cake. The drinks were so overpriced it was ridiculous. I can't remember the price of the coffee but it was over £4.00 which is too much even with the continuing price hikes at the moment. We opted for a cup of tea at £3.35 each. However for that, turns out you get a mug of water with a PG tips tea bag in it. I asked to put my own milk in and was handed the carton of milk. For that price I'd have expected a cup, tea pot and a small jug of milk to make at least two cups. Disappointing end to a lovely walk.
Beautiful mature gardens. Clearly the garden has been established for many decades, with magnificent specimen plants as well as more recent planting, creating a special subtropical environment. Every turn lead to another vista. We loved it, such a visual treat. Don't miss the walk up to the viewpoint over Chesil Beach. It is a bit of a climb but there are benches along the way for a rest and a breather. The view from the top is superb. Also there is a special view of St Catherine's Chapel through the trees. There's a charming café in a colonial style for a snack or just a cuppa. It was a lovely sunny day when we visited, so we sat out under the veranda for our tea. Just lovely.
A beautiful gardens with a wide variety of plants and trees. Some signage of plants would of been useful. Good value for money. Very peaceful not over crowded. Shop, cafe and toilets. We spent about 2hrs wondering around. Large car park.
Really lovely experience. Delicious cake very yummy. Flowers were beautiful those that were in bloom and the water features relaxed and were pretty as well. Rained slightly but did not ruin our cheer as the gardens have many tall trees that function well as cover. Absolutely worth it if you’re in the area. Would be nice to go back when more areas are accessible but we went after a bit of a rainy night yohohohohoho!!
