Excellent trip on this steam train. The staff were excellent and changing ticket to an earlier return (due to the weather) was no problem. We got the ferry from Dartmouth included in our ticket so it was a really great experience overall.

Was a wonderful experience all apart from being accused of smoking on the train by a member of staff! I don’t even smoke! Was highly embarrassed

Excellent trip. Good views to the left and right. Well worth the extra £3:each to sit in the rear observation carriage, especially when your group has it all to themselves.

What a treat! We had a wonderful experience on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, doing a return trip from Kingswear (Dartmouth) to Paignton. We purchased the ticket on the day at a cost of £55 for the two of us. This included the foot ferry between Dartmouth and Kingswear should you need it. The train itself is like stepping back in time, you can see that it has been lovingly restored to its glory days. The views are simply breathtaking, on the way to Paignton you’re treated to the River Dart, followed by the rolling Devon hills and then the track follows the coast, giving you views of the rugged coastline and stretching sea. On the way back we paid the extra £3 each to sit in the Pullman’s observation carriage, this was well worth the extra. What a wonderful way to take in all the sights with glass windows giving you the maximum viewing experience. The staff were super friendly, helping to fulfil our needs. I’m not a train enthusiast, but I really enjoyed the whole experience.
