Harlyn Surf School

Lovely people and a wonderful beach. I booked the beginner group lesson and was ably guided through the basics by our coach Ross. Equipment worked well, the weather was perfect, and good waves. The team (Ross and Rhys) were super helpful and accommodating and let me stay out a little longer with the board. Recommended to anyone in the area or visiting!

I took a beginner's surf lesson yesterday, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The instructor, Charlie, was excellent—very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. He made sure to teach me all the essential techniques and really took the time to guide me through each step. His encouragement and clear instructions helped me build confidence in the water, and I felt supported throughout the lesson. I highly recommend this surf school to anyone looking to learn surfing or improve their skills 😉

I come to Harlyn every year and have had multiple lessons over the years with several of the amazing team members – including Rhys and Cat (who I have had multiple times) and Andy- and they’ve all been absolutely fantastic! But I have to say, Cat is truly exceptional. I’m quite an anxious girly and often struggle with confidence, but Cat has a special way of making me feel completely at ease. On one occasion, I ended up pulling out of a lesson early because I wasn’t comfortable with the choppy conditions out back – it was purely lack of confidence and energy! What really touched me was that Cat noticed this and came over shortly after with a dry wetsuit in one hand and a snack bar in the other, inviting me to give it another go – as I had already paid for the lesson previously. That kind of kindness, generosity, and intuitive understanding is rare. Cat knew just how to coax me into trying new things, without pressure and always with so much encouragement. Harlyn Surf School – you’ve got an incredible team, and Cat is an absolute gem. Highly, highly recommend her to anyone looking to build their confidence and progress with surfing. ❤️

One of the highlights of our holiday! We took a 1.5 hour beginner surf lesson with Andy and loved every second. A great team of people - friendly and experienced - and a great price. We learnt a lot, felt safe and supported, and most importantly, had a lot of fun! Would definitely sign up for another class - highly recommended!

Absolutely spectacular Monster SUP coasteering that accounted for different age groups and correctly identified a couple of passengers as being too young, but nonetheless let them have a play around by the beach at the end. Beautiful to weave in and out of the coves and islets between harlyn and trevone, and occasionally feel the force of the sea and the fun of some very safe jumps. These guys are great.
