We were in the area and this popped up as an interesting place to visit. Wasn't very busy when we arrived. We were greeted with a very friendly member of staff who was helpful and informative. The caves are absolutely stunning! The detail is just phenomenal we were really taken back by the detail! Good prices for family admission and a beautiful little gift shop

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! You can not go to Margate and not visit this grotto! It's just incredible and to think no one knew it was there for so long, let alone knows for sure who or why it was made. Truly wonderous! Lovely little shell themed store too. Parking is tricky, you may need to walk a little ways and navigate the side streets to get here. But please do, you won't regret it!

This is a gem, unbelievable that there’s no records by who and when this has been made! Visited there on a Sunday afternoon and no queue and there was only a couple of other groups. The grotto is small and doesn’t take long to visit. Cute gift shop.

It was an interesting place to visit. The staff were helpful and explained the safety procedures. The gift shop was beautifully displayed. The actual Shell Grotto was awesome and it must have taken ages to create such a wonderful place.

This is a very interesting curiosity in Margate. It is definitely worth a visit if you’re in town. You start above ground in the gift shop./ticket area then go down into the grotto. It is amazing to see all the painstaking work that was put into it years ago. They have a souvenir book about the grotto history that I purchased which offers a plausible explanation in addition to other theories. Pick up a copy before you leave.
