Torre Abbey
Reviews
A Beautiful Historic Treasure! Torre Abbey is a stunning blend of history, art, and nature. The abbey itself is beautifully preserved, and the gardens provide a peaceful escape. The art exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing and inspiring visit. Highly recommend for history buffs and families alike!
+ It was great learning more about the history of the Abbey. A lot of work has already been done and more is underway in restoring it. We loved the amount of interaction in the various exhibitions. The garden is of a reasonable size and offers lots of different plants with more coming in the near future? If you're interested in history, you should definitely visit the abbey.
The gardens and ruins are beautiful, well maintained and there’s lots to see in the museum. It is worth seeing for the price, although there are no concessionary tickets, which seemed quite unusual. I’m happy to support museums though :) I took 1* off because the cafe was closed until the end of the month. There was no info about this available on the website before travelling (luckily, I plan for all eventualities but feel for those who don’t!) They do have a selection of snacks (crisps, chocolate etc) and a fridge of drinks. Pleasant enough to sit in the gardens with. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
The museum has interesting interactive information about the abbey's history. Within the outdoor grounds are remnants of the old Abbey. Some garden areas with a variety of plants & shrubs. Also large glasshouse with tropical trees & other plants. A good way to spend a couple of hours.
Just round the corner from my hotel - great for an hour or two in the middle of the day when you need a break - Food van outside do lovely food and drink service (Abbey Refreshments close-by is also good for a quick snack). Being externally renovated at the moment, so there is scaffolding over part of the building - but it looks like it will be worth it in the long-run, to secure the future of the property.
