We have just returned from the Headland Hotel and overall we had a fantastic, relaxing break - the hotel has the most stunning views and wonderful spa facilities, with a great splash pad for kids. We also had a very good massage whilst there! However, for the price point there are certainly a few areas that need to be improved on. We stayed in a 2 bedroom sheltered sea view cottage. We had a beautiful little garden with the most stunning views, and it was secure for our toddler and dog which was great. However, the bathrooms and beds are in desperate need of being replaced and the standard of cleanliness was pretty poor... cob webs and sweet wrappers from previous visitors were found. We asked for my mums room to have a mattress topper put on and they just left it in the room for us to do (this was resolved when I flagged). During the stay the light clean was to a very low standard. We also had an issue regarding where we could eat breakfast with our dog and we were requested to pay extra to eat in their only dog friendly restaurant. After 2 conversations with a duty manager, this was resolved but the website needs to be clearer here. You shouldn't be expecting cottage guests to pay for a breakfast twice. There should be an option for customers in cottages to have breakfast with their dog without paying extra! I am also pretty sure this a change in policy from when I booked, when I looked back at my confirmation. Other areas of feedback: - Whilst dog friendly, they aren't overly welcoming of dogs with a long list of rules and above breakfast issue - Please have some toddler friendly cutlery and plates for meal times - Make the website clearer that roasts on a Sunday stop at 4pm, we were left really disappointed Sunday when we found this out. And the remaining menu in the terrace is quite basic - The reception area needs refreshing, it does not give a great first impression of the hotel - peeling wall paper, old carpets etc...

Absolutely amazing experience in the spa today. We booked the spring serenity package and loved every moment of it. The spa facilities were fantastic - especially the Aqua club. The weather was fantastic and if you didn’t think about it you could be anywhere in the world looking out over the sea from the hot tub. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely visit again on future trips to Cornwall. A fantastic experience from start to finish.

We stayed here in 2021 and swore it was a one off treat but the staff and service were so good that it was treat that had to be repeated. We've just returned from our 3rd long weekend. The rooms are great and really quiet, no noise from any neighbours. The staff are so friendly and helpful and fun. The breakfast is fantastic. We love lounging in the ballroom, watching sunsets and drinking cocktails. The Aqua club is so relaxing. Sitting in the hot tub with a cold beer gazing out through the glass walls at the surfers on Fistral beach is so awesome. The hotel is dog friendly and we love making friends with all the dogs. We come home so relaxed and refreshed. We adore staying here.

I just wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for our recent stay at your property. We had the best time! The place was very clean and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. We also really appreciated how dog-friendly it was; it made our experience even more enjoyable to have our furry friend with us. We have nothing to complain about, everyone and everything was perfect! Thank you once again for your hospitality. We hope to return soon!

This review relates to the spa only. We had a really disappointing experience trying to book a spa day for our honeymoon. The Headlands holds a special place in my heart because I used to holiday there as a child. As I am going to Cornwall on my honeymoon, I thought it would be nice to go back for a spa day. The front desk were not at all accommodating. We asked to book the 125 years of bliss package for 2 of us. We were instantly told that because it was not a couples spa day, they could not guarantee we would be in the same room. This is even after i had explained we would be on our honeymoon and the website only provides for one couples spa day - a day without any treatments whatsoever. This seems mad for a 5 star hotel that they cannot accommodate a couple wanting to have a treatment together on their honeymoon! Whislt they agreed to swap a manicure / pedicure for a hand massage / foot massage (again, no flexibility on swapping for another treatment of equivalent length), they insisted it would have to be in the manipedi room and could not be in a more relaxing treatment room. The rationale was that the products for the hand and foot massage are in the manipedi room. Again this seems ridiculously inflexible for a 5 star hotel towards a couple looking to celebrate their honeymoon- just carry the scrub from one room to another? The booking experience with the woman from the front desk was so 'no, no, no' that i gave up and have ultimately decided that I will try and book elsewhere. So disappointing. Some work to be done on customer service unfortunately.
