Porthtowan Beach
Dogs are not allowed between Easter and October.
A classic north coast surf beach where golden sand stretches for miles beneath towering cliffs, offering excellent waves for surfers and bodyboarders alongside safer swimming areas patrolled by lifeguards during summer months. The beach's exposed position creates varied surfing conditions that change with tide and weather, while the vast expanse of sand at low tide provides space for beach games and long walks. The charming village above provides excellent pubs and cafés, while the surrounding area offers fantastic coastal walks including the route to Chapel Porth with its famous ice cream van. Strong rip currents can develop around high tide, so always swim between the lifeguard flags when operational.
