Praa Sands Beach
Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1 July to 31 August (10am - 6pm).
One of Cornwall's longest beaches, Praa Sands stretches magnificently along Mount's Bay for over a mile, offering golden sand backed by grassy dunes with spectacular views toward St Michael's Mount. Popular with families for its safe swimming and spacious feel, the beach also attracts surfers to its western end, while the eastern section provides more sheltered conditions. The substantial car park rarely fills completely, making this one of the more accessible major beaches, while beachfront facilities include surf hire and cafés. The surrounding area includes fascinating Wheal Prosper mine ruins, and the South West Coast Path provides access to more secluded coves and dramatic Rinsey Head.
